Persephone Wept. is an experiential, multimedia immersion into the lives of incarcerated women that combines classical literature with modern storytelling techniques. Written by Lee Smith, Persephone Wept. follows the Greek myth of Persephone and her imprisonment in the Underworld by Hades, presenting powerful images and eloquent voices to reveal and illuminate the humanity of those in prison and the effect of that incarceration on the community.

Persephone Wept. is produced with generous support from the Hellenic Studies Endowment, and is created in collaboration with Warehouse of Theatre.

Free parking is available in Garage D, 1070 W. 45th St.
