F. Ludwig Diehn School of Music at Old Dominion University presents
A Virtual Concert of Sacred Music featuring the University Concert Choir and Diehn Chorale
The COVID-19 Pandemic was considered to be the “Death of Singing” across the nation. This was not true at ODU, as we found that singing could still happen - it just had to be approached a little differently. This concert features the singers wearing masks, each physically distanced by six feet, and only 48 singers allowed at a time (you will see singers rotating in and out since there were more than 50 musicians). An orchestra was not possible due to space and numbers, and there was no audience, but this is a glorious performance by these students! Twenty members of the choir are first-time students with us, so the learning curve was steep - all the more reason to work toward this goal. I am so proud of this group and their perseverance in the face of so many obstacles.
