Reading by Mélanie Loisel in French, with English translation by Peter Schulman, Ph.D., ODU
In Voices Across Borders, former Radio Canada reporter and Québécoise author Mélanie Loisel shares passages from her books in French (with English translation) and discusses the imperatives of keeping memories alive from one generation to the next.
Dr. Peter Schulman will lead a conversation with Mélanie and discuss her globetrotting effort to preserve the memories of those who lived through the 20th-century's most significant events. These stories are chronicled in her book From the Shoah to Syria: Those Who Lived The Century, as well as her latest book on Marly Fontaine and her fight for justice and truth on a reservation in Northern Québec.
The Arts@ODU Summer Series was developed to facilitate community connections through free, accessible programming, to highlight the strength and resilience of the arts at ODU, and to lift spirits during this challenging time.
